.csv file not loading on google earth

Postby Logan700 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 3:36 am

Hello guys,
I am new to the Freematics data logging system, and I have a quick question as to how I plot my collected GPS data. I have gone on a few short drives and logged the data on an SD card. Once I was done I loaded it on to my computer and tried to plot it on Google Earth through the Freematics website, but it did not work. Any ideas as to how I should get it to work?

You must be boosted. lol.

Here, try my log viewer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByBda7 ... sp=sharing

Just file open, find your csv, and go play. Let me know if you have questions.

Ok thanks. I downloaded your viewer to my computer, and I opened up the GinzoLogViewer.exe file. I then tried to drag and drop my .csv file to it, but it did not work. It could be because I am working from a Mac. If that is the problem, what should I do? I don't have a Windows computer readily available to me.

Does the main screen actually load when you open it? I'm surprised it even got that far on a mac!

Drag+drop doesn't work (I should add that to my list of features). You need to go to "File" then "open" in the top left task area. I'm not sure if Macs will read that properly though. I'm a Microsoft developer so windows is really the only thing I do. I did verify your CSV opens in my software though.

Yeah the main screen actually loads! But after that, it's a bit rough. I'll try what you said when I get home from school. Were you able to see if my .csv was plotable on Google Earth?

Yea. I know where you live now lol. Must be warm. Although your temps make me think you're around 50F at the time of the log.

My log parser still needs some work but you can get a general idea. I hope it's intuitive enough to figure out. I think that if you have to make documentation, your software is bad lol.

When your log first loads, it'll show you the RPM graph up top and the first accelerometer number in the google earth plot. Just check the boxes for what you want.

Let me know how good the food is at Cocina del Charro.

Hey sorry I took so long to get back. I have been really busy with high school and work. I was unable to to load the .csv file into your extractor. I tried all the things you said to do, but I guess it is just because I am using a Mac. Unfortunately, I won't be able to see it on Goole Earth, but I can still put on excel spread sheet. I was just trying to use it in a presentation for school on a project I am working on. I will just show the spread sheet in the presentation. Im not sure if there is any way for me to use a link to see the data you plotted on Google Earth, but if not, don't sweat it. Thanks so much for all the Help!

PS: Cocina Del Charro is great!

Well if you just need it for a school project, someone has to have a windows computer you can load it up on real quick. Or if you really just want it for this one project, I can export and send you just the KML. I color code mine based on PID though. I can hard code it for all one color if you'd like. Otherwise, I generally plot by coolant temperature since that makes for a pretty little gradient.
