If the OBD is not connected to car (not powered), please don't connect it to the LCD shield.

The 5V is not picked from Arduino. It's converted and regulated from the 12V. The 5V is for powering Arduino.

When you update the firmware, don't connect any OBD device to the emulator.

Gyro data and temperature data are not logged in the sample sketch, though they are retrieved. Take a look at the code please.
