OBD Not working on '00 Mustang

Post by roppetty »

Hi, I recently bought megalogger (kit #3) and am having an issue getting the OBD readings from a 2000 mustang. I got the megalogger code built and uploaded and i got it working on my '09 WRX and '14 Mazda3 but i have a mustang racecar, which was the whole reason i bought this, that it just hangs at the startup screen with a red x for the OBD. I see the blue light flash a couple times every couple seconds whereas on the working cars it seems to constantly flash. is there anything i can look at to debug this? it seems like that's a problem with the OBD sensor not on the mega itself. i also tested using an off the shelf bluetooth reader and the Torque android app and that works fine so pretty sure the mustang is working fine (it does have ~5-10 active DTC's though from emissions stuff being removed, could that be causing issues?). any ideas?

It is possible some cars are not supported. We have listed all the supported protocols on the product page and they are:

CAN 500Kbps/11bit
CAN 250Kbps/11bit
CAN 500Kbps/29bit
CAN 250Kbps/29bit
ISO9141-2
KWP2000 Fast
KWP2000 5Kbps

well that's unfortunate, it looks like 98-04 mustangs use PWM J1850. so i can't use this for what i wanted to do

Sadly it's not supported. J1850 is now only used by trucks.

Stanley,
There are a TON of motorheads over here in the US that would love to use a product like this, but their vehicles all use j1850. GM LS engines use j1850, this is the most popular engine for automotive enthusiasts in the world. You could stand to make a lot more money by supporting j1850. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
