J1850 PWM/VPW support after purchasing?

Post by Reckless84 »

Hi everyone. I'm new to this sort of product and was wondering if I can purchase the support for J1850 PWM and J1850 VPW later, after purchasing the unit? Or can that only be added at the time of purchase?

Also, I have read some recent posts discussing lack of support for the 2 J1850 protocols. Is someone able to explain what the problems are? I may want to test against Ford and GM protocols, so what am I facing with wanting to do that? Thanks so much!!

Best Regards,
Andrew

No, there are hardware differences between the two.

Thank you Stanley, I appreciate the response to that.

Any chance you can explain what my complications will be if I want to use the J1850 protocols? Is the feature to simulate J1850 PWM and J1850 VPW protocols not fully-functional? Thanks again!

Hi Stanley and other members, I'm still hoping for some guidance regarding the two J1850 protocols. Does the OBD-II emulator simulate/emulate J1850 VPW and J1850 PWM properly?? And what concerns might I face if I try to work with these protocols using the Freematics emulator? I really want to buy ASAP, but if the emulator won't actually do J1850 protocols then I want to make sure I don't opt to pay extra for those. Can someone PLEASE give me a little more information on this topic ASAP?? Thanks a ton!
