Recommendations on product for getting started

Post by daveywatt »

Hey guys, I'm a web developer that's new to OBD2 GPS trackers.

I am looking to start a hobby project web app that will listen to a UDP stream that logs GPS trips and other vehicle data.

There are a few products on offer here, and I am not sure what to go with for my needs.
I am assuming that the One+ starter kit would be the way to go?

I'm based in Australia, but I am not sure which SIM card option to pick either. I think there was an A and E option?

Can anyone recommend what to go with to get started?

Cheers.

If you are in Australia, go with ONE+ with SIM5360E (3G) or SIM7600E (4G) with GPS antenna. I recommend Amaysim's PAYG plan which gives you best cost effectiveness for small data application like this.

Great, thanks Stanley.

I've noticed there are a few options and models, I have done a bit of reading to make sure but can you please confirm for me?

Do you think this combination would be a good starting point (attached)?

Cheers.

Yes, this will be good to start. You don't necessarily need cellular GPS antenna if you include external GPS receiver which gives you higher update of geopositioning.

Thanks for your help mate. I just ordered this setup without the cellular GPS module.

Looking forward to building something fun!

I can vouch for the One+, I started on it as well and never had a reason to complain about it!
